Here at our Victorville non-invasive skin care practice, Restylane is now becoming a growing favorite amongst our clients when it comes to sculpting the lips and smoothing out wrinkles around the mouth and nose. Apart from its positive effects, Restylane users can’t stop talking about its long-lasting effects in comparison to other fillers.
Restylane is Natural!
Restylane is made up of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring compound responsible for making our skin appear plump and youthful. As we age, one’s supply of hyaluronic acid decreases making wrinkles appear more prominent. Furthermore, reduced hyaluronic acid levels leads to volume loss in the face. Thus, Restylane acts as a filler and the good news is that it’s natural, hence the possibility of the filler being rejected by your body is close to zero.
Restylane-L®, Perlane®, and Perlane-L® are all members of the Restylane family, with each product containing a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid.
When Not to Have Restylane?
By and large, your plans of having Restylane should be postponed until the following conditions are treated or cleared by your general doctor:
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- Individuals who have a history of severe allergic reactions, of particular note are allergies against “gram-positive” microbes
- Individuals with bleeding or clotting disorders
- People who are currently taking medications that prevent clotting (blood thinners for example)
- Individuals who have sores, rashes, cysts, pimples, or any type of skin infection at the time of injection
Post-Restylane Concerns
Swelling is normal right after injection but should only last for 2 to 3 days. Normal activities may be resumed but you may have to avoid sun exposure for a week or two. Furthermore, if pain persists following injection, you need to get in touch with the injector right away.
